ABN AMRO is an all-round financial institution predominantly serving clients in the Netherlands. It’s universal yet dedicated approach aims at retail, private and corporate banking clients.Corporate Banking at ABN AMRO is a steadily growing division, with vastly spread network, vital importance to the Bank and enormous potential for its employees. ABN AMRO Clearing Bank is the embodiment of that potential. Being the 3rd largest clearing bank in the world enables us to offer you an internship in Operations Europe, where you will get to know the ‘ins and outs’ of the clearing business. At the moment there are four departments that make-up Operations - Custody Clearing (Amsterdam), Securities Clearing (Amsterdam), Derivatives Clearing (London) and our Business Process Outsourcing unit (India). These departments comprise of various subunits called ‘desks.’ You will predominantly work for the Amsterdam desks in The Netherlands.
ABN AMRO looks for well-performing, exceptional individuals who can grow with the organization. We aim to employ international and Dutch students and young professionals with solid academic background (MSc) and outstanding English language skills (both verbal and written). Since a big part of the work is interacting and dealing with people of diverse backgrounds and different positions within the Bank, we are looking for someone who is communicative, open, outgoing and always takes initiative. You will have to dodge between topics under strict time constraints, therefore preparation and organization of your work will be vital. Lastly, a lot of the work is done in Excel, which requires candidates to be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
You will work with specialists from the four departments. Within the first month of the duration of your internship you will be placed at a desk, where you will participate in the workload, daily meetings and team efforts to meet the daily, weekly and monthly deadlines and targets set by management. You will provide your team with quantitative reports, process improvement suggestions as well as solutions to the pressing issues of the day. Besides being a member of a desk you will carry out your duties in assisting the European Chief Operating Officer (COO) as well as doing long-term projects with your fellow interns.
